China records no new local COVID-19 infection in the last 2 months

THDNewsDesk: On Monday, China announced no new locally transmitted mainland Covid-19 case for the first time in nearly two months, reliable data displayed, adding to signs that it has maintained to stamp out the latest surge of the disease.

On February 7, the total amount of COVID-19 cases increased lightly to 14 from 12 a day earlier, the National Health Commission stated, but all were carried infections from abroad.

While seven cases were in Shanghai, the rest were registered in the southeastern Guangdong province. This signified the first time China has had zero local infections since Dec. 16, implying the determined steps led by officials managed to stop the virus growing further from larger clusters in Hebei province encompassing Beijing and the northeastern Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces.

The National Health Commission stated, the figure of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as established COVID-19 cases, extended to 16 from 10 a day earlier.

The total figure of COVID-19 cases in China is 89,706, while the death toll is stable at 4,636.
