After enduring a turbulent season with Los Angeles Lakers, NBA Star Dwight Howard made a visit to Varanasi for a spiritual break. The 36-year-old shared snippets of his spiritual journey to the holy city, where he was seen enjoying the transcendental Ganga Aarti.
“At peace with myself and the world after a visit to Varanasi. A spiritual journey that has rejuvenated the soul,” Howard wrote.
Howard also congratulated the Indian prime minister for transforming the city.
“Congratulations @narendramodi for magical reformation of the holy city. Varanasi has inspired so many legends, I am humbled. I am sure the reincarnation of this sacred city will inspire many more.”

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Board too shared Howard’s pictures from Varanasi. “NBA champion @DwightHoward traveled to #Varanasi. He enjoyed witnessing the transcendental Ganga Aarti and shared his experience on his visit to this ancient city of spirituality & culture,” wrote UPTB.
LA Lakers are already out of the playoff contention after losing seven successive matches. Howard, 36, still thinks that there are a couple of years left in his career. On being asked about his future at the Lakers, Howard said: “Why do I want to leave? I want to be cemented somewhere. I love being here. I love the fans. I have a good time. I really want an opportunity where I can really go out with a bang (laughs).”
Having made his debut in 2004 with Orlando Magicians, Howard has since then featured for Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Philadelphia 76ers. In what was his third stint at the Lakers, Howard finally won his maiden NBA ring.
