New Star Wars Foods at Disney World & Disneyland for May the 4th…and Beyond

Walt Disney World and Disneyland have announced new for Star Wars food coming to the parks and resorts for May the Fourth. In this guide, we’ll share details, photos, and dates for the decadent desserts, savory snacks, and innovative entrees being added to menus, including what you can expect to find well after May the 4th concludes

According to Disney, exciting eats are coming from a galaxy far, far away! The best treats in the galaxy are landing at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort joining in on adventures you’ll have to taste to believe as May the 4th draws nearer.

One thing you’ll notice with these new Star Wars foods is that some specify date ranges that clearly indicate when they’ll be offered. Some have a starting date but no conclusion, instead being available while supplies last–suggesting that whenever the particular product sells out, it’s gone. Others still simply suggest an open-ended duration, with certain dishes that will be “available beginning May 2.”

This last category is what interests us most, as these are mostly counter service restaurants that would greatly benefit from more robust menus. On both coasts, the lunch and dinner menus at Docking Bay 7 are still a shadow of their former selves, with far fewer items than prior to closing 3 years ago. The lack of variety is particularly pronounced at Disneyland, which is really unfortunate, as Docking Bay 7 was so ambitious when it debuted. (Even scaled back, Docking Bay 7 has a strong menu; just not to the same degree as before.)

And while we’re lamenting what has been lost on the Star Wars culinary front, we’d be remiss if we didn’t (once again) implore Walt Disney World to bring back the short-lived character dining for Star Wars Weekends. In fact, bring back that whole event. I know my opinion probably is not as “valid” as a casual fan, but I found Star Wars much more fun when the parks didn’t take itself so seriously. Let it be fun and goofy–it is a space opera, after all. But I digress.

Let’s make the jump to lightspeed and explore the May the Fourth Star Wars Food Guide for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts…

There are a few eye-catching items coming for May the Fourth, but the dish that really has my attention is towards the top: the two variations of Temple Rootleaf and Moss Salad at Docking Bay 7. That Asian-inspired salad has a lot going on, and could have the potential to be a well-rounded, filling, and ambitious plant-based option.

Disney has done intriguing and inventive things in the last few years with plant-based options, particularly in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Of course, we can’t help but mention the the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread (also at Docking Bay 7), which is remains Sarah’s go-to entree at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Here’s hoping that some of these drinks, dishes, and desserts stick around beyond the month of May 2023–especially those in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. While on the topic, our wish list would include the return of breakfast at the Milk Stand–or at least the Green Milk Bread Pudding! That debuted back in March 2020…meaning that it only existed for a couple of weeks before the parks closed. Oh, and Oga’s Cantina could use a more robust menu of sides and appetizers, but that’s been true since day one.
