Unless you’re fortunate enough to have a personal hair stylist on speed dial, styling your hair during the heady humidity of Summer can be a challenge. If you’re anything like me (Jem – Blog Editor – Hi!) the height of Summer makes you want to chop off all your hair, simply because you cannot deal with the faff of making it look, at any level, presentable. But before you make the drastic decision to shave your head to resemble Britney circa 2007, there are plenty of chic hairstyles to try.
In fear of spending the Summer with hair that would win me a part in The Lion King, I’m sharing three low maintenance hairstyles that the whole LiB team will be rocking this season. Why not give them a go?
Beachy waves
Beachy waves are a classic Summer hair look, whether or not you’re actually sunning yourself on a beach – the hottest holiday hair looks work just as well in the big city as they do in the big surf. If you can’t get to the beach, bring the beach to you with this super simple, low maintenance style. What’s better is this look can be achieved with or without a hot tool. If you’re not using a curling tong, simply spray Bedhead by TIGI’s Beach Me Gel Mist into wet hair and plait, leaving to dry naturally overnight. Come morning, whether your hair is curly, wavy or straight, you’ll have absolute control, moveable hold and beachy waves in abundance.
Messy Top Knot
One of the team’s favourites for keeping cool in the Summer heat that also oozes style is the classic messy top knot. To achieve this look, spritz damp hair with a texturising spray of your choice and create a rough high ponytail before twisting and wrapping in a clockwise direction. Loose Textured Braid
Another versatile Summer style is the loose textured braid, which will work for any type of braid or plait. For a loose boho look, simply pull hair back into a messy ponytail, braiding down the back. Alternatively, split your hair in half and loosely braid each side, pulling out bits of hair as you go to add texture – easy, breezy and humidity proof.
