Q
Tell us a bit about your blog and what\’s hot right now…

A
I started my blog a fair few years ago now whilst I was at uni as a side project where I could talk about makeup – because let’s be honest no one wanted to talk about it as much as I did in real life! I never realised that having a blog would open so many doors for me and now I’m a full time beauty writer thanks to it all, which is pretty crazy. The Makeup Directory is all about beauty, and I have been called an enabler a lot so beware when you visit. I’ve started doing a few more outfit posts recently though so maybe more of that is on the horizon…

Q
What’s currently in your makeup bag?

A
I’ve always been a fan of full coverage foundations but recently I’ve been loving the lightweight L’Oreal Cushion Foundation paired with the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer. I’ve been reaching for the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette basically everyday as I’m a little late to the party and only picked it up last month. On my lips is a NARS lip gloss called Chihuahua, I’d never tried high end lip glosses before this but now I’m a complete convert!

Q
If you could raid one person’s makeup bag, whose would it be and why?

A
Probably Gemma from Gemma Louise as we have really similar skin tones and I always nod along to all her recommendations. She creates the most beautiful looks too, so always inspires me to look at my products in new and different ways.

Q
Favourite discovery from your latest LiB box?

A
Definitely the REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist, I absolutely love how refreshing it is for when I’m in London, plus it’s perfect for slotting into my handbag. Also becoming a big fan of the Philip Kingsley Body Building Shampoo, I’m so fussy with shampoos but I love this one!

Q
Lipstick or lipgloss?

A
I know lipgloss isn’t very “in” right now but I’ve always been a huge fan as it makes me feel like I’ve stepped right out of Clueless. I do love my lipsticks though, in fact I love pairing both together. If I had to pick I’d probably go for gloss.

Q
Any beauty sins?

A
Probably not paying enough attention to my brows. I spent my entire teenage years with a full fringe over my brows so no one knew what was brewing under there, and now I don’t have that haircut anymore and I’m so useless with keeping on top of things! Luckily my brows aren’t particularly unruly, but I really want to try harder with actually going and getting them professionally done!

Q
Most overrated product?

A
I really didn’t get on with the By Terry Ombre Blackstars, and I feel like I’m the only person who has ever said this! When I used mine it creased so badly, regardless of whether I used a primer or not, and I just found them hard to blend. Not a fan!

Q
Blogging highlight?

A
I was really flattered to be nominated for the Bloggers Blog Awards last year. It was so unexpected as I never mentioned it to anyone, then suddenly I saw my name alongside some of my favourite other bloggers. It’s lovely to think people thought of me, very humbling!

Q
How do you relax?

A
Typical blogger thing to say, but I really do love having a bath as I can just feel myself unwind. I also started learning the piano again this year which I find really relaxing, albeit slightly frustrating. It’s so nice to have a hobby which doesn’t involve looking at a screen!
