Disney has released full menus for the dining options in the San Fransokyo Square area based on Big Hero 6 in California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. This post offers a sneak peek at the entrees, sides, snacks, and drinks coming to the restaurants in this newly reimagined land.
In case you missed it, San Fransokyo Square is taking over Pacific Wharf in phases throughout Summer 2023, a transformation that has already been in progress for the last several months. This might sound like huge news to those who haven’t been to DCA, but it’s worth noting that Pacific Wharf is basically a food court.
Don’t get us wrong: Pacific Wharf is a lovely area where we eat there often, and we’re really looking forward to the San Fransokyo Square transformation. We just don’t want to get hopes up or for anyone to expect this to be a fully-fledged land with multiple attractions, entertainment, etc. It’s going to have a new meet & greet, retail, and expanded dining options. The change from Pacific Wharf to San Fransokyo Square is a essentially a plussing that should result in an incremental improvement–perhaps more for big fans of Big Hero 6!
With basic background out of the way, we’re excited to share that the San Fransokyo Square restaurants will start to introduce new menu offerings over the summer, starting with Lucky Fortune Cookery on July 19, 2023. In the weeks following, even more dining options will join the seaside plaza as the transformation continues through mid-August 2023.
The new Big Hero 6 neighborhood will be home to new locations like Aunt Cass Café, Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería, and Rita’s Turbine Blenders. Each of these spots will feature diverse menus with items like the Shrimp Katsu Sandwich or Beef Birria Ramen, and even a Baymax Sipper!
In addition to that, fan favorites from Lucky Fortune Cookery and Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill will still be available–and with new menu items to enjoy, too! Let’s take a look at the full menus of food and drinks coming to San Fransokyo Square…

In terms of commentary, this is almost too good to be true. As noted above, we love Pacific Wharf. There’s a reason every counter service restaurant in this area made our list of the 23 Best Restaurants at Disneyland Resort. This food court is really good, and underrated among Disneyland diehards (despite its popularity with the general public).
Disneyland Resort’s culinary team has done a fantastic job improving the menus around Pacific Wharf over the course of the last several years. There are items on each of these menus that can hold their own against real world counterparts in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, both of which are no slouch when it comes to Mexican and Asian cuisine.
My concern was that some or all of these items would be lost, and Disney would instead opt for more crowd-pleasing menus in what’s sure to be a popular area for tourists. Thankfully, that fear was unfounded. Every single standout entree is sticking around. Not only that, but the menus are all expanding, and some of the new additions sound both delicious and ambitious. (The only omission that I see is the bread pudding at Pacific Wharf Cafe, but that’s seasonal and often not listed on these menus–I wouldn’t be surprised if it sticks around or moves elsewhere.)
Not to search for the cloud cover on every sunshiny day, but I wonder how long all of this will last. It’s common for Disney’s culinary teams to aim high with new menus…only for those to run into the realities of theme park operations shortly after arrival. We’ve seen that time and time again, most recently with that snack stand near TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom.
Disneyland Resort is different from a demographics perspective, so it probably won’t be a matter of guests ‘demanding’ more crowd-pleasing fare. Instead, the issue could come with kitchens being unable to efficiently prepare the wide variety of items. Hopefully this pessimism on my part also turns out to be unfounded, and the restaurants of San Fransokyo Square are wildly successful and end up ushering in a new era of ambitious menus at Disneyland Resort. If so, the culinary team’s next stop should be a detour around the bend into Cars Land, where the food scene is running on empty and the menus are a few years overdue for their annual tuneups.
