Amazon Prime Day is back for Summer 2023 with great discounts on Disney toys, books, games, LEGOs, travel accessories, and more! This post rounds up the best deals during “Black Friday in July” for your Walt Disney World vacations, plus products that will make great gifts for yourself or others.
In case you’re unfamiliar with it, Prime Day is essentially Amazon’s Christmas in July sale. It certainly makes sense for the retail behemoth to create its own money-saving holiday, as Amazon is already the single-biggest source of deals in November and December. The last few years we’ve spent about the same amount during Amazon Prime Days as we have on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
For 2023, Amazon’s Prime Day is expanding into something more. It’s already more than just a single-day sale, so the name has already been inaccurate for the last couple years. Now, other retailers are getting in on the “fun” of Amazon Prime Day 2023, as this week has basically become the summer version of Black Friday and Cyber Monday…
If you want a broad selection of the current deals, check out Amazon’s Spotlight Prime Day Deals page for the biggest savings and most popular deals. Even then, the options can be overwhelming, as there are literally tens of thousands of items on sale for Prime Day. A top one that isn’t necessarily for Walt Disney World that we’ll direct your attention to is 50% off Subscribe & Save orders. This can be used on a multitude of products, from snacks (great for the parks!) to pet items to household goods.
For those wanting to check out the discounts at other retailers, there’s also Walmart+ Week, which is now open to the general public through July 13, 2023. (That membership itself is currently 50% off and, we think it’s well worth the cost. Alternatively, you can currently do a free 30-day trial to Walmart+ and get $20 off an order via Sarah’s referral link.)
There’s also Target Circle Week, exclusive to Target Circle members, through July 15, 2023. Best Buy has its Black Friday in July savings event until July 12, with a mix of deals for the general public and exclusive offers for My Best Buy Plus members.
This post aggregates Amazon’s best deals likely to be of interest to Disney fans and travelers. Some items are Disney-specific, others are travel gadgets that are not exclusively Disney-related. The former are fun items for collectors, parents, people doing gift shopping, and so on. The latter are practical items that would be useful for Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacations.
As with any of these promotional event sales, some “special offers” are great and some are…not so special. We’ve combed through the various deals and are sharing only those we deem good. We receive a small commission from Amazon for your purchases, so buying through these links helps support the site. However, neither the price you pay nor our recommendations (or lack thereof) are impacted by that.
We’ve purchased these items ourselves, have friends who recommend them, or are debating the purchase. It should be clear from each item’s description how we feel about a particular product. On with the list of the Best Amazon Prime Day Deals for 2023…
Disney Travel Accessories
Crocs Unisex Adult LiteRide 360 Clogs – These are the clog version of the Crocs that made our recent list of the Best Shoes for Walt Disney World. We actually just got these for Sarah’s mom–who preferred them to the LiteRide shoes–and we paid $15 more. An insanely good deal at 57% off!
Save Up to 60% on Crocs – Other styles of Crocs are up to 60% off–you can browse the options here. You’re not going to save much more, and all of the other styles are much uglier than the LiteRide, though!
Anker Slimline Phone Charger 10,000mAh External Battery Pack — Even before Genie+, we recommended bringing a backup battery pack to charge your phone while using My Disney Experience or social media at Walt Disney World. This one has great capacity and the fastest quick-charging capabilities. This only shows as being 15% off, but it’s far and away the best price we’ve ever seen on it–we paid $21 for the one we bought last year on Black Friday, and that was a deep discount at the time!
Anker PowerPort Cube Strip with USB-C and 3 Outlets – Disney has refurbished many of its rooms, adding USB ports in the process, so this isn’t really necessary for those. It is for many off-site and older hotel rooms, though. Plus, this has fast-charging to get devices recharged quicker.
Brita Filter Water Bottles – Florida water tastes awful straight from the tap, so it’s key to get a bottle with a filter. This is our second-favorite option–the cheaper bottle that I carry since I’ve lost one of the more expensive ones. It’s a great option, and with more and more bottle refilling stations around the parks, far more efficient than going up to counter service restaurants requesting cups of ice water. It’s 37% off for Prime Day.
Collapsible Water Bottles – These don’t have filters–essential for us given the taste of Florida’s water–but if you’re more concerned with saving space and convenience, they’re a fine alternative. Maybe you like the taste of swamp water!
Repel Travel Umbrella – This is windproof, durable, and compact. You may not think a windproof umbrella is necessary for Walt Disney World, but during storm season, it absolutely is. In addition to the fancy water bottle, I also lost one of these umbrellas last month at the Caribbean Beach bus stop, and boy oh boy, did I regret that for the next two days! HIGHLY recommended at 29% off.
Sukeen Cooling Towel 4-Pack – The cooling system on these towels uses moisture from the towel to draw the sweat away from your skin to keep you cool. We still prefer the Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad, but some Walt Disney World fans prefer these. At 54% off for Prime Day, they’re definitely worth giving a try!
Handheld Portable Small Fan (USB Chargeable) – If you don’t want to be quite as dorky with the neck fan and don’t want to wear a cooling towel, this classic handheld fan is the more traditional option for keeping cool. It ends up being under $10 after discount and clipping the coupon on the product page.
Gonex Compression Packing Cubes – They key here is that these are compression packing cubes, which normally cost more and will save you even more space when packing. If you need the suitcase space, we recommend this set over the one below. (Don’t miss the extra 5% off clippable coupon.)
Packing Cube Sets (Multiple Sizes) – Another staple of our packing list, we are fans of packing cubes and these are a solid deal at 49% off select colors. (With that said, there are a LOT of packing cubes on sale, so you might want to browse the results for “packing cubes” on the Prime Day page and see which sizes/colors/etc. best suit you.)
Gonex Packable Backpack — Another excellent innovation from the fine folks at Gonex…a brand I’ve literally never heard of outside the ‘packable’ space. This takes up minimal room in your suitcase and more importantly is super lightweight. That minimizes the amount of back-sweat you’ll have to endure from the Florida heat and humidity. The blue one is $.79 extra, but it looks a lot nicer IMO.
Apple AirTags – We use these to “track” our car (good for rental cars that can get lost in the sea of the TTC), checked baggage (good for peace of mind), and much more that isn’t relevant to travel (our cat). The best potential use of all that we have not tried (yet!!!) is tracking strollers. In a recent article about Walt Disney World’s new strollers, several readers complained that Cast Members relocate parked strollers, making them difficult to find. AirTags should offer a great solution to this problem!
Personal Neck Fan – We bought this little device during Prime Day, and it’s shockingly effective. It’s like that refreshing feeling you get when walking past an open doorway of an air-conditioned building. It’s not perfect, but it’s a really fantastic idea, and is a breath of fresh air during hot and humid days in Florida (which is ~10 months of the year).
Travel Pillow – This is new-to-us travel pillow is incredibly popular, rating better than our favorite pillow (that had its design cheapened and no longer scores well). At 33% off, it’s only an okay deal.
Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray – Sarah said to add this, and was pretty emphatic about it. “This is huge. It’s a great deal on the best product I’ve found to combat Florida humidity and prevent frizziness.” I know absolutely nothing about it.
Elemis Spa Stuff – More for the Sarah section. I guess this is used in the spas aboard Disney Cruise Line, and is beloved among Sarah and her gal pals. Who among us doesn’t need a “marine cream” that’s $103 (?!?!) after discount. (Okay, there are much cheaper products, but that’s the one that caught my eye!)
Cricut Items – I say the same thing whenever this stuff is on sale: I have no idea what any of it does. Sarah said I should add it because her friends love this for Disney use, and there are some great deals on the various products.
Video Games
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Now that Super Nintendo World is open at Universal, I finally feel free to post more about video games as “related” deals. Suffice to say, Tears of the Kingdom is the best game I’ve ever played. I’d highly recommend it to parents as a way to boost their kids’ critical thinking skills, problem-solving, imaginations, and curiosity. No joke. It’s truly an educational game…and also an absolutely amazing world to explore.
I cannot say enough positive things about TotK, and have already logged an embarrassing number of hours playing it. (Hey, I did mention that Sarah has been falling asleep early! 😉 ) At $18 off, this is about as good as it gets on new Nintendo Switch releases–and it would be worth every penny at double or triple the price.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Practice for the new ride at Universal Studios with the iconic racing game. I’m not going to pretend this will teach your kids anything (aside from reckless driving!), but it’s an all-time great game at an all-time great price (50% off).
Super Mario Odyssey – Another all-time great Mario game for an unprecedented 50% off. I prefer the classic 2D style, but this is also a must-play.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – Super Mario Odyssey is the more popular option from the Nintendo Switch era, but I prefer this classic. Also 50% off.
Mario Golf: Super Rush – If your kids already own every other title on the list, maybe get them this. Everything above is a 10/10 game, whereas this is maybe 7/10. Still fun and features Mario and friends, and is 50% off!
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PlayStation 5) – I’ve never played any of the EA Star Wars games, but people love them. After the $11 coupon, this is a low price on the recent release. (However, unlike Nintendo games that are rarely discounted even years after release, prices fall fast on other studios’ releases. So don’t buy this now and save it until Christmas–it’ll almost certainly be cheaper on Black Friday.)
Disney Books
A Portrait of Walt Disney World: 50 Years of The Most Magical Place on Earth – Our favorite Walt Disney World coffee table book ever. In style, structure, and quality, this is unrivaled. Truly the best thing to come out of the 50th Anniversary celebration, this covers everything from development to the evolution of Walt Disney World, with tons of rare photos and concept art. You can read our full review if you want, but the bottom line is that this is the best book about Walt Disney World.
Delicious Disney: Walt Disney World – This is a cookbook, with recipes for iconic dishes like the Grey Stuff, Tonga Toast, Kungaloosh, Ronto Wrap, Hollywood Brown Derby Grapefruit Cake, and Le Cellier Steakhouse Cheese Soup. However, it’s also so much more. You’ll also find rare restaurant concept art, history (my favorite is “Walt Loved Fried Chicken”), and old menu scans.
Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making More Magic Real — This huge book by WDI is a classic that belongs in the library of every fan. This beautiful title is actually a sequel to another excellent book that’s now out of print (that we’d also highly recommend).
Walt Disney’s Disneyland — One of my favorite Disney books of all-time at a crazy-good price. Anyone who has owned or even held a TASCHEN book knows why this is something special. This is an incredibly high-quality coffee table book, and well worth more than the $33 price tag.
Holiday Magic at the Disney Parks: Celebrations Around the World — This is an incredible deep dive into the holidays (mostly Christmas and Halloween, but also Easter and other seasonal events) with great photos, detailed information, and rich history. If you love the seasonal events, this is an absolute must-own.
100 Disney Adventures of a Lifetime: Magical Experiences From Around the World – We’ve had a few of these National Geographic “100” books, and they are excellent at generating two things: hype and conversation. Page through one of these and you’ll immediately feel an insatiable sense of wanderlust. Put one of these on your coffee table before a gathering, and travel will become the topic of conversation.
Poster Art of the Disney Parks, Second Edition – This new for Christmas 2022 title is an expanded and updated edition of the beloved book that ranks highly in our library. The second edition renders the first obsolete, as the 85+ new posters and behind-the-scenes development info nearly doubles the book in length. It’s worth it for all of the awesome new posters made for EPCOT’s reimagining alone. (Currently a Lightning Deal for $25.76!)
The Walt Disney Film Archives. The Animated Movies 1921—1968 – Another great TASCHEN title, for an unbeatable price.
The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – This offers an inside look at the magic behind the Disneyland and Walt Disney World lands, documenting the art and innovations that led to the creation of Galaxy’s Edge. Featuring hundreds of full-color concept artworks, sketches, blueprints, photographs, and more, the book reveals Walt Disney Imagineering’s creative process.
Save $5 when you buy $30 of select items
Amazon has a Prime Day promo offering $5 off when you spend $30 on select items, which are mostly puzzles and games. To take advantage, simply add 3 items from the items on this page to your Shopping Basket via the “Add to Basket” button. The offer will be automatically applied to your total at checkout and you’ll get one of the titles for free (so in other words, 3 for the price of 2 products. Here are our recommendations from this offer:
Space Mountain Game: All Systems Go – This board game features players racing rockets to see who can complete their missions and visit all 5 Starports first. Avoid cosmic events and keep an eye on your fuel levels to leave opponents in your space dust! This is 59% off even before the extra $5 savings!
Funko Disney It’s a Small World Game – It’s the happiest cruise that ever sailed! And you’ll be truly happy when cruising through checkout with this game for 52% off even before the $5 coupon.
Gargoyles: Awakening Game – This cooperative strategy game is based on the 1990’s Disney cartoon Gargoyles, with players battling Xanatos and Demona on a 3D cityscape board featuring Manhattan as it was depicted in the cartoon. I vaguely remember watching this as a kid, but I don’t have the same nostalgia for it as other Disney Afternoon shows. I know it has a huge following, though, so this new game for 52% off before the $5 coupon is a great Prime Day deal!
Disney Eye Found It Card Game — The standard board game version of the beloved game—not a great deal on its own as compared to what we’ve seen in the past, but decent “filler” if you can’t find anything else to complete the $5 off $30 discount.
More Disney Games
Villainous Disney Strategy Board Game – This game by Ravensburger has received rave reviews and won the prestigious ‘Game of the Year’ Award at the TOTY Awards. It’s made our past deal lists with superior savings, but is on sale again for Prime Day (don’t miss the clippable $5 off coupon).
Magical World of Disney Trivia (2,000 Questions) – This game is perfect for superfans to casual viewers questions covering a wide range of Disney and Pixar stories, and with easier questions for kids.
Haunted Mansion: Call of The Spirits Board Game (Magic Kingdom Edition) – I’m a total sucker for cheesy and cheeky board games, as well as Walt Disney World board games. This is the perfect intersection of those interests. It’s a fairly strategic game that’s easy enough for kids but also deep enough for adults. This is the cheapest we’ve ever seen the Magic Kingdom version of the game, at 56% off!
Disney’s A Goofy Movie Game – Make the most memories with Goofy and score the best seats at the Powerline concert. You’ll travel across the road map game board with card art and 90’s design that depicts locations and moments from the movie. Great deal at 63% off.
Something Wild! Mickey & Friends Character Card Game — Another fast-paced and easy-to-learn family card game featuring beloved Disney characters and Pop! pocket figures.
Funko Disney Happiest Day Magic Kingdom Game – Visit exciting attractions, meet cherished characters, and experience magical moments throughout Magic Kingdom–a great way to relive the magic, complete with a 3D Cinderella Castle and day-to-night versions of the park.
Sorry! Board Game: Disney Villains Edition – This family game combines classic Sorry gameplay with a wickedly fun Disney Villains inspired board, Spell cards, and 16 Villain pawns.
Disney Princess Monopoly Junior — Same idea, but with Monopoly…princesses…and for younger kids! (Okay, so not really the “same idea” at all.)
Disney-Pixar Monopoly — Another great Monopoly deal. (Personally, even though I love Pixar, the Villains edition looks the most interesting and unique.)
Funko Disney Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Game – Another ride-specific game from Funko, this one released for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. It features a sculpted mountain peak and mine tray that capture the iconic old west setting of the attraction. Simple, fast-paced introduction to deck-building—one of the most popular styles of card games. Features dynamite and dinosaur discoveries…what’s not to love?! At 57% off, it’s a fantastic deal.
Funkoverse: Marvel 101 Expansion Game – Use Thanos alongside other Funkoverse characters, or power him up in Ultimate Mode for the ultimate Funkoverse experience (73% off).
Funkoverse: Marvel 100 4-Pack Strategy Board Game – Game modes that include Scrimmage and Siege that allow you to explore the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and Shuri’s Wakanda Laboratory.
Disney Toys
Disney Princess Dress Up Trunk Deluxe 21 Piece – Obviously, I don’t know anything about this–just that it’s a good deal and is popular among Disney fans as an inexpensive alternative to doing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Disney Princess Fashion Doll Castle – Kids can imagine the “Comfy Squad” Disney Princess characters lounging in style in this large doll house, which stands over 32 inches tall. Castle includes a sofa, vanity, stool, wardrobe, shell-inspired chair, and a bean bag chair so kids can imagine all the dolls relaxing together. Can’t speak to the quality or appeal of this, but it’s a great deal!
Frozen Doll Set – Inhabitants for Elsa’s ice palace. These Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven dolls from Frozen 2 are 47% off.
Talking Baby Yoda Character – This talking Baby Yoda figure makes 10 different vocalizations and is described by Hasbro as “cuddly.” It’s styled after the Grogu character from the Disney+ series, with an authentic appearance. At 48% off, this is on sale for only $14.50!
Baby Yoda Stuffed Character – Similar idea here. Not exactly a plush, this 11-inch Grogu toy has a soft body, plus a sturdy base filled with beans, perfect for cuddling or display as a collectible. Winner of a Toy of the Year Award.
LEGO Star Wars The Razor Crest Building Toy Set – Reenact scenes from the Mandalorian with this detailed, LEGO brick model of The Razor Crest starship, featuring figures of the Mandalorian, Greef Karga, Scout Trooper, and Baby Yoda/Grogu in this 1,023-piece playset. At 30% off, this is a great deal by LEGO standards.
LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett’s Throne Room – This Jabba’s palace Star Wars buildable model contains 732 pieces and opens up for easy access to the detailed throne room, barbecue area and kitchen. There is a throne with a hidden treasure compartment and a pop-up function to eject Bib Fortuna, tilting steps, an opening gate, and more. At 33% off, another great deal on a newer LEGO set.
There are lots of other LEGO sets for 20% or more off, including the Madrigal House from Encanto LEGO playset as well as Marvel Avengers Iron Man (30% off), Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic (33% off), and more!
Okay, that’s it for right now. There are a bunch of other great deals that are irrelevant to Disney and travel (but also don’t appeal to me) on the Amazon Prime Day homepage. We recommend browsing for yourself a bit, and checking back often, as new deals are regularly appearing–and disappearing. Just be mindful of the fact that some of these offers are time-sensitive, so you don’t want to spend too much time procrastinating and end up losing out!
Also, check back here throughout the deal, as I’ll share more Lightning Deals as they become available if they’re any good. Oh, and if you find anything that you think would be useful for other Disney fans, please share in the comments below!
