Full Food Guide to 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World has released the full list of themed foods, snacks and desserts for 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, available November 9 through December 22. This guide takes a sneak peek at the special items available for purchase during this hard ticket event as well as the free cookies and refreshments!

For the 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Walt Disney World’s culinary teams have cooked up yuletide yummies (as the kids say). During that event, the highlight for many guests is stopping for the free* cookies, hot cocoa, and other holiday refreshments. There are stations to get these all over the park, and different cookies are served at each of them. (*Included with the cost of $100+ party tickets and undoubtedly built into that price!)

In addition to that, several restaurants and snack spots will be open and offering even more Christmas-themed items that are available for purchase. If our experiences in the past–and the stock photos and descriptions that Walt Disney World has shared–are any indication, some of these are worth seeking out, whereas others are a waste of time and money unless you buy food for Instagram photos.

Turning to the complimentary cookies and hot cocoa, Walt Disney World hasn’t shared the lineup and where each can be found during the 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Last year had a slightly scaled-back list of locations:

  • Pinocchio Village Haus: Frosted Gingerbread Cookies and Hot Chocolate
  • Columbia Harbour House: Chocolate Chip Cookie and Hot Chocolate
  • Lunching Pad: Sugar Cookies and Apple Cider
  • Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café: Snickerdoodle Cookie and Hot Chocolate
  • Tortuga Tavern: Sugar Cookies and Eggnog

Walt Disney World hasn’t confirmed the free cookie and drink lineup for the 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and probably won’t until the first event is held and the map is released. We’ll update this accordingly should any of the above change, so stay tuned!

Assuming this lineup holds true, the best place to go for the free refreshments is Cosmic Ray’s or Pinocchio Village Haus. Not only did they have the best cookies last year, but also the most efficient setups. My hope is that this year brings a restoration of greater variety–the cookies really peaked in 2018-2019, with the Peppermint Crunch and Ginger Molasses Cookies.

Personally, I’d recommend just sticking to the free/included refreshments rather than buying anything extra–you already dropped $125+ for each party ticket alone. But on the plus side, there’s actually a reasonably strong lineup of food for the 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Let’s take a look!

Honestly, the food lineup for the 2023 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party makes me a little sad. Not because it’s underwhelming or bad–quite the contrary. There are several savory selections here that sound like they could be winners. At minimum, they’re more interesting and ambitious than the bulk of the quick-service menus at Magic Kingdom right now.

To that point, we were recently updating our List of the Top 10 Counter Service Restaurants at Magic Kingdom, and found ourselves “downgrading” several locations that have removed dishes recently. The problem was that, several locations had pulled items and none had added anything noteworthy, so it was difficult to justify upgrading any restaurants. Aside from Columbia Harbour House, it’s pretty much a race to the bottom for Magic Kingdom counter service cuisine.

Point being, it’s unfortunate that the savory entrees are locked behind the paywall of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. While I appreciate special menus, the event is going to sell out every single date regardless and there’s no way the average attendee can eat more than 10% of what’s on this list. Personally, I’d far prefer this list cut down to about half its size–and the other half (especially the entrees) moved over the regular operating hours at Magic Kingdom. That’s especially true for spots like Cosmic Ray’s and Friar’s Nook, where the MVMCP menus are significantly superior to the everyday ones!
