Holidays at Goofy’s Kitchen Character Meals

Goofy’s Kitchen is the flagship character dining experience at Disneyland Resort, featuring fun food and cool culinary character costumes. For Thanksgiving and Christmas 2023, Disney is taking this a step further with even more unique themed meals at this restaurant.

This follows up on the success of Halloween 2023, when Goofy’s Kitchen hosted a special spook season meal with Halloween character costumes and seasonal food offerings for the first time. The costumes were last year’s in-park Disneyland character costumes, which are fantastic. Disneyland has started doing new costumes for Mickey & Friends each year at Halloween and Christmas, so this could mean a couple of things.

First, that Goofy’s Halloween Kitchen in 2024 might use this year’s in-park costumes (those are pretty great, but honestly, I hope Goofy keeps the same costume next year). Second, that the Holiday Breakfast and Brunch Buffet at Goofy’s Kitchen will use last year’s Christmas costumes from in-park at Disneyland. Keep in mind that those are assumptions on our part, and either or both could be wrong. We won’t know for sure until the meals debut!

Anyway, here’s what Disneyland has announced is coming to Goofy’s Kitchen for the upcoming holiday season. From December 1, 2023 through January 1, 2024, delight in a festive breakfast, brunch or dinner buffet—and celebrate the holidays with some favorite Disney Characters.

We’re big fans of Goofy’s Kitchen. As noted above, this is the flagship character meal at Disneyland Resort. Although it’s a bit of a hike from the parks, it’s worth the detour for breakfast or dinner at Disneyland Hotel. This is our favorite character breakfast at Disneyland Resort, and top recommendation for families who want the best balance of a fun experience and a fun meal.

Our full Review of Goofy’s Kitchen takes a look at the food, the highlights of which are some truly goofy breakfast pizzas, ranging from peanut butter and jelly to banana’s foster (they are so much better than they might sound). Other menu highlights of this all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet include made-to-order omelets, Mickey Mouse waffles, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs Benedict, smoked salmon, pastries, fresh fruit, and more.

Character interactions are also generally pretty good, as Goofy’s Kitchen emphasizes fun over food. This isn’t to say the food is bad at Goofy’s Kitchen–it’s shockingly good for what it is–but it doesn’t aspire to be more than comfort food. (The breakfast pizzas are a fan favorite for good reason. PB&J pizza doesn’t have any right to be this good!)

You start by posing for a photo with Goofy in his zany kitchen before you enter the eatery. This is both good and bad. The good is that you are pretty much guaranteed a good photo with Goofy against a nice backdrop without any other guests in the background. The bad is that Chef Goofy typically is not out and about inside the restaurant making the rounds for hilarity and hijinks.

Ultimately, the Holidays at Goofy’s Kitchen character breakfast, brunch, and dinner sounds fantastic. As huge fans of this character dining experience and Christmas at Disneyland and new parents, this is right up our alley.

Regrettably, we won’t be able to do the holiday overlay (it’s a little too soon to doing indoor dining with Megatron), but we’re hoping it’s a huge success. The more seasonal offerings at Disneyland, the better–if these holiday overlays to Goofy’s Kitchen return for Halloween and Christmas 2024, we will absolutely do them then!
