There’s a new 2023 Florida resident discounted ticket at Walt Disney World with deals on 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day park weekday tickets for locals. This shares info & details about the limited-time offer, commentary about this Floridian special offer, return of Annual Passes, and historical comparisons.
This is one of several new deals; if you also need to add a hotel stay, Walt Disney World has released discounts of Up to 20% Off Walt Disney World Resorts for Florida Residents through April 30, 2023. This is just one of many discounts available right now at Walt Disney World.
Thanks to those resort discounts and this special offer on tickets, Florida residents can join in the excitement of the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebration with Disney Weekday Magic Tickets. These discounted Florida resident tickets will be available for purchase starting January 10, 2023.
Once released, this 2023 Walt Disney World ticket deal will offer Florida residents the ability to buy a 2-Day Disney Weekday Magic Ticket for $175 plus tax, or a 3-Day Disney Weekday Magic Ticket for $195 plus tax–that’s just $20 for an extra day.
There’s also a 4-day ticket for $215–or another $20 for that extra day, representing the best value of all and allowing you to visit all four parks–Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom–on different days. Or just the same park multiple times–it’s up to you how and where you use your days!
Speaking of which, the 2023 Floridian Weekday Magic Tickets are flexible. Tickets can be used on consecutive or nonconsecutive days, subject to theme park reservation availability (which is currently wide open for the duration of the promo period)—so you can spread out your visits.
Florida Resident Disney Weekday Magic Tickets are valid for admission to one theme park per day (theme park reservations are required and are subject to availability). Tickets and add-on options expire April 27, 2023. All tickets and options are non-transferable and nonrefundable and exclude activities/events separately priced (such as After Hours at Magic Kingdom).
With that said, you can also choose a Disney Weekday Magic Ticket that includes add-on options:
- Park Hopper Option: Visit more than one theme park on the same day. Add it for $40 more per ticket, plus tax.
- Water Park and Sports Option: Visit one theme park per day, plus enjoy a visit to a water park, golf course or miniature golf course on each day of your ticket. For example, if you purchase a 2-Day Disney Weekday Magic Ticket with the Water Park and Sports Option, you can visit a Walt Disney World theme park on 2 days with a theme park reservation—and visit a Disney water park on 2 additional days by April 27, 2023. Add it for $35 more per ticket, plus tax.
- Park Hopper Plus Option: Visit more than one park on the same day, plus visit a water park, golf course or miniature golf course on each day of your ticket. This ticket option is a combination of the Park Hopper Option and the Water Park and Sports Option. Add it for $55 more per ticket, plus tax.
The only option that’s missing for the 2023 Florida resident ticket deal as compared to last year is the Genie+ add-on. Previously, this could be purchased for the duration of the tickets at a flat-rate charge of $16 per day. However, this option has been retired for all tickets and Genie+ now uses date-based pricing that ranges from $16 to $31 per day.
The good news is that Genie+ will likely cost $16 most dates that these tickets are valid. The notable exceptions are holiday long weekends, plus Mardi Gras week. There’s also the reality that you won’t need Lightning Lane access for all dates or all parks. Everything you need to know is covered in our Guide to Genie+ and Lightning Lanes at Walt Disney World.
On a tangentially related note, I’m honestly shocked these tickets aren’t blocked out February 20-24, 2023. We’d highly recommend avoiding those dates if at all possible–they will be insanely busy due to the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend, Mardi Gras, Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and more.
For other dates to visit or avoid, consult our 2023 Walt Disney World Crowd Calendars. There are going to be many dates that have low crowds during this Floridian ticket promo, but also some that will be very busy–so choose your dates to visit wisely!
Proof of Florida residency required. All adults will need to show proof of Florida residency at park entrance. Both a theme park reservation via the Disney Park Pass system and valid theme park admission for the same park on the same date are required.
Here’s a visual chart that might make the info easier to digest:
For those wondering how this Florida resident rate compares to last year’s discounted tickets, they’re slightly more expensive. Those 2-Day Florida Resident tickets cost $149, the 3-Day version was $179, and the 4-Day Florida Resident ticket option cost $199.
The other change is that these tickets are subject to more blockout dates. Last year excluded the same period in March, but no April dates. For what it’s worth, the two excluded weeks in April 2023 are popular spring break timeframes for school districts in the Midwest and Northeast. The blocked out dates in March are spring break for both Osceola and Orange Counties in Florida.
If you’re wondering how this compares to 2021, back then Florida resident ticket prices for the first half of the year were $149 for 2-day tickets, $179 for 3-day tickets, and $199 for 4-day tickets. (However, these had more blockout dates–and were also available during a busier time of year.)
Post-reopening, Florida Resident Discover Tickets started at $130 per ticket for the 2-day ticket. The 3-day option was $174 per ticket and the 4-day Florida Resident Disney Magic Flex Ticket was $195 per ticket. None of those tickets were limited to weekdays-only.
With this 2023 Florida resident ticket offer, locals can enjoy limited-time experiences. Enjoy the grand finale festivities during the World’s Most Magical Celebration, which is Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary event that ends on March 31, 2023. Or, delight in all things creative during the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, taking place January 13 through February 20, 2023.
Following that, there’s the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, which will run from early March to early July. This ticket will be valid for the first half of that event, which is when EPCOT is in full bloom and its florals look fantastic.
Best of all, there’s the new TRON Lightcycle Run Roller Coaster in Magic Kingdom, which Disney announced will open in Spring 2023. We have a few potential predicted opening dates for TRON Lightcycle Run, all of which are in April 2023 or earlier.
This ticket will also enable guests to take ‘goodbye’ rides on Splash Mountain, which will close in late January 2023 to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. It’s also possible that Toy Story Roundup Rodeo Restaurant will open before this ticket expires. That’s really about it in terms of what’s on the horizon, though.
Some Floridians may be considering this ticket deal because all tiers of Annual Passes aside from the Pixie Pass are temporarily unavailable. As a result, many Floridians are waiting to purchase Annual Passes–some might be pushed to this offer to get their Walt Disney World “fix.”
However, one thing to keep in mind there is that it’s likely APs are very close to going back on sale. In When Will Walt Disney World Resume Annual Pass Sales? we predict that they’ll be back very soon. In fact, APs could return as early as this month or next!
Ultimately, the Disney Weekday Magic Florida Resident Ticket offer is the best way for locals to save on park admission right now…especially with Annual Pass sales suspended. However, we think the return of APs in the next couple of months is an inevitability, and that would change the equation significantly.
Accordingly, if you’re in the market for an Annual Pass but would otherwise purchase this ticket deal, you might want to hedge your bets and hold off for now.
