Blogger of the Month: Lady Writes

Lady-Writes-Latest-in-Beauty

Here at Latest in Beauty, we love blogs and often spend any spare moment looking through all of the great posts and feedback on our Build-Your-Own beauty boxes. The LiB gang is constantly growing and that’s down to you lovely lot and our collective of beauty bloggers sharing the love and discussing their favourite products they’ve found on LiB. It’s so exciting when our favourite bloggers and influencers share their must-have Latest in Beauty discoveries, therefore each month we like to chat to one of them right here on the blog. This month we chatted with Chloe from Lady Writes Blog, who talks to us about her new business, as well as revealing her favourite Latest in Beauty discovery.

Q
Tell us a bit about your blog and what makes it stand out…

A
I like to think my blog stands out because it\’s a beauty blog with real reviews and honest opinions. I like to be honest about what works, and also what doesn\’t. Plus I\’m quite prone to the odd bit of sarcasm so I hope that people find my blog posts funny and fun to read as well. (Which is a unique mix – sarcasm and make-up!)

Q
What’s your go to make-up look for AW17?

A
Right now I\’m so busy with the blog and my new business (and a new baby!) that I\’ve really streamlined my make-up routine. My absolute go to is a plum lip with liquid highlighter across the cheeks (applied with a brush because it looks more subtle this way) and a quick smudge of black eyeliner to create the smokey eye look without the need for much eyeshadow. Then when I have time I go all out on the eyes with red and gold toned shadows – the more sparkly the better. I love autumn and winter make-up trends.

Q
You’ve just started a new business, can you tell us more?

A
This summer I started Letter Writes because I love words. I think it\’s why I\’ve never really branched into YouTube and stuck with blogging. I love to write. So I kept thinking about a business to mark my love of words, quotes and writing and from there I fell in love with Letter Boards. It\’s been a long process but I am totally overwhelmed with how much people have fallen in love with the Letter Boards and it gives me so much joy to see all the pictures on Instagram etc featuring our boards! (Makes all the long hours totally worth it!)

Q
Favourite discovery from your latest LiB box?

A
Without a doubt my WetBrush. I hadn\’t ever tried one before but I swear by it now. It\’s the only thing that gets the knots out of my hair and it\’s so gentle to use. I\’m fully converted now!

Q
Hidden gem in your beauty stash is…

A
The Ordinary Foundation. For £6 this is the most amazing coverage on a budget. I even got my friends it too because I think it\’s such an amazing quality for a little price.

Q
Most overrated product you’ve discovered?

A
Kylie Liquid Lipsticks. I\’m more of a glossy lip kinda gal anyway but you can\’t ignore how massive matte lipsticks are now. I tried a few of the Kylie ones when they first launched and was so unimpressed. Everyone raves about them but I find them so drying and totally overpriced.

Q
Your signature scent is….

A
Easy – Thierry Mugler, Alien. Always.

Q
Blogging pet peeve?

A
People assuming it\’s all fun and freebies in blogging. I work pretty much full time hours on my blog and it\’s harder work than anyone thinks!

Q
The blogger/YouTuber made me buy it…

A
The IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Man this is amazing. Everyone needs to try it!

Q
Best bit of beauty advice you’ve ever received?

A
Always cleanse, tone and moisturise as a daily basic. All other skincare is ‘extra’ but those three need to be your staples for clean and healthy skin.
