Given the global pandemic, beach vacations will likely look different for the foreseeable future. In addition to the standard beach gear outlined in this post, I will be packing hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, and face masks for the family.
It’s no secret that I love sunshine, and beach vacations are a family favorite. Regardless of the season, I’m either at the beach or thinking about the beach. So apart from all the kid’s gear, what do I pack for a beach vacation? Here are a few of what I consider to be the best beach products for your next vacation.
Best Beach Products for Your Next Vacation
Swimsuit
I include a selection of one and two-piece bathing suits when I pack for a beach vacation. My favorite swimwear brands are Karla Colletto and Eres.
Karla Colletto Swimwear
Stylish Karla Colletto swimwear is manufactured in America using innovative techniques and textiles. I purchased the Reina Rick Rack one piece at the Four Seasons Resort Maui – it’s fabulous. Fortunately, Karla Colletto is available online at Amazon, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Eres Swimwear
French swimwear brand Eres believes in simplicity and a natural look. To achieve this, Eres created Peau Douce fabric with the help of an Italian supplier. This exclusive body-hugging material stretches in all directions and feels as soft as skin, hence the name. Peau Douce means soft skin in English. Eres swimwear is available in select resort shops, department stores, and in Eres boutiques.
Havaianas
I’m often chasing balls, boys, and dogs (when I’m close to home) at the beach – this means waterproof footwear. Fortunately, Havaianas flip-flops come in multiple shades and styles. I have a selection of these easy-to-pack and comfortable beach shoes.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen is an essential beach product. First thing in the morning, I apply Skinceuticals products my face. If I’m going to the beach, I use either SuperGoop, water-resistant Coola, or Zealios Sport Performance sunscreen on my body. Then I slather up the kids. I look for a sunscreen that protects our skin in the most natural way possible and minimizes harm to the environment. I prefer non-aerosol formulations, and although I haven’t used it, I’ve read good things about Thinksport SPF 50 sunscreen.
Some ingredients in sunscreen including oxybenzone and octinoxate may harm the marine environment. As of January 1, 2021, Hawaii will ban the sale of sunscreen containing coral-harming chemicals oxybenzone and octinoxate. Stream2Sea biodegradable and Thinksport sunscreen are both considered to be safe for lakes, oceans and marine life.
Beach Cover-Up
From the resort to the beach, Letarte has you covered. I discovered this swimwear brand on Maui, and I’ve been a fan of the Letarte beach coverups for over a decade.
Sun Hats
Hats keep the sun off my face and prevent the sun’s rays from playing havoc with my hair colour. I currently wear sun hats from Tenth Street Hats and Hat Attack.
Tech Gear
I’ve included technology in this list of best beach products because I love to read, take photos, and stay connected with my family. For me, essential tech gear for a day at the beach consists of an iPhone with a waterproof case (I use Catalyst products), a battery pack, a Skyroam WiFi Hotspot, and a Kindle Paperwhite E-reader. Additional items include a GoPro Hero with waterproof case and wrist strap and Nikon Coolpix camera for the kids.
